Innovative Technologies to Improve Teaching and Learning

The Advanced Learning Technologies in Education Collaborative at the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning utilizes the most advanced and innovative technologies available to improve teaching and learning.

ALTEC became a Division in the Center for Research on Learning (KU-CRL) in 1995, contributing to the KU-CRL mission. As a non-academic unit at the University of Kansas, the Center focuses on problems in education and work in order to develop solutions that make a difference for educators, learners, employers, and policy makers.  ALTEC encourages collaboration, resource sharing, and alliances that help educators discover the possibilities of technology…for students and themselves!

Faculty and students in ALTEC come from a range of disciplines and programs, including the School of Education, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the School of Engineering, and the School of Fine Arts. This collection of talent gives ALTEC a wide range of capabilities including advanced networking and telecommunication expertise, instructional design, data harvesting and warehousing, distance education experience, and programming.

ALTEC is committed to the development of new technologies to empower learners of all types and ages and will continue to redefine the learning experience through innovative resources. ALTEC seeks to partner with those who recognize the tremendous capabilities available through electronic strategies for dissemination, communication, and collaboration. We provide support in the development of the initiative, interpreting the intent of the content authors with the latest in design, development, and delivery. ALTEC will continue to maintain its partnership with an individual project through the contribution of specific resources required through the different phases of implementation including design, development, maintenance, and evaluation.
